Born in 1958. Studied at the Laird School of Art, Birkenhead, followed by three years at Sheffield College of Art where he gained a 1st BA Hon Degree in Fine Art in 1980. Since then his career has spanned both painting and music. From 1981 to 1989 he performed with the pop band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, which toured extensively throughout Europe and the USA.

Since 1989 he has been exclusively developing his painting career. He works only in oil, specialising in still life subjects in a small format, frequently featuring musical instruments. His work is carefully executed, and great emphasis is placed on colour balance and tone.
